ATLANTA'S "Global Water Cuisine" RESTAURANT!

AquaKnox Restaurant

We visited The AquaKnox Restaurant to film Jennifer and Xeric's "Love Story" and we are very much impressed with the ambiance of the AquaKnox...and the cuisine is - simply, DELICIOUS.

Xeric planned ahead and made reservations with manager Andrew Smith for the exclusive "wine cellar;" a glass room filled with exquisite wine bottles, with cascading water fall exterior - it is unlike any wine cellar you can imagine. To say Xeric's proposal to Jen was unforgettable is an understatement!

The AquaKnox has plenty of intimate eating areas and guarantees a romantic night out in Atlanta. Andrew Smith will gladly accommodate your dining wishes making your entire dining experience absolutely perfect. For lover's and of course, all others too, we very highly recommend the AquaKnox.

Visit The AquaKnox Website.

SURVIVE THAT "HOT"LANTA SUMMER OUTDOOR WEDDING!

When you first get the invitation, you're thrilled. And then you realize. It's an outdoor wedding. In the heat of the Georgia summer.

As a guest at an outdoor wedding, how do you survive the heat while still looking chic and lovely? Here are my top tips.

  1. Wear Cotton - Consider wearing a cotton sundress or other clothing made of natural fibers. Loose fitting clothing will be your friend. Your dress choice for a summer outdoor wedding should it strikes the right balance between comfort, formality, and stylishness. Men, consider a light tan suit, or the old-fashioned chic of seersucker.
  2. Stay Hydrated - Water will keep you keep your cool. Carry a small bottle of water along in your purse, you'll be glad you did. No purse, bring it in a white gift bag.
  3. Wear Layers - It seems like every summer has times of unseasonably cooler days. Carry along a cardigan or jacket that coordinates with the outfit you plan to wear to the wedding. Even on a warmer day, a light sweater will keep the sun off of your shoulders, preventing sun damage.
  4. Wear Sunscreen - Sunscreen is a must. The last thing you want is a blistering sunburn and Georgia is known for dishing them out in short time. Though your seat may start out in the shade, consider that the sun may shift during the ceremony and you'll receive full sun, without the possibility of moving to shade.
  5. Consider a Hat - Adding a hat to your outfit will not only shield your face, but it will add some "European" punch to your ensemble.
  6. Parasol Means Stop the Sun - You don't have to be fancy to carry a parasol to shade you from the sun. Be sure to sit in a place where you aren't blocking others' views.
  7. One Extra Consideration - Stilletos are great, but they won't work at an outdoor wedding. Whether sinking into the grass, or tripping on cobblestones, you'll wish you'd worn a more sensible shoe. Consider a wedge heel or trendy ballerina flat which will be far more comfortable outdoors. You can always carry your stilletos and put them on for any indoor activities.

A WEDDING NEWSLETTER By Leah Steenstra

Consider creating a "Wedding Newsletter" to keep your family, friends and wedding party up-to-date with your wedding plans and schedules. Newsletters are great for guests or members of the wedding party that live out-of-town. Plus, they can save you money by reducing the amount of phone calls you have to make! Newsletter to Family & Wedding Party Can Include:

  • Where and when the bridesmaids must be fitted for their dresses.
  • Where and when the men have to pick up their tuxes.
  • Information about travel and hotel accommodations. Include the name of a travel agent or provide your guests with all of the phone numbers required to make their reservations.
  • Where and when the rehearsal dinner will take place.
  • Information about any other "wedding related parties", such as a next-day brunch.
Newsletter to All Your Guests Can Include:
  • Information about travel (planes, trains, taxi services) and hotel accommodations or the name of a good travel agent who can make arrangements for them.
  • Information about the date, time and location of your ceremony and reception.
  • A list of the wedding attendants and a brief introduction to each, such as: "Mary Jenkins, Maid of Honor, lives in Boston, MA and has been a friend of the bride since college".
  • Information about local area attractions.
  • Information on local restaurants.
  • Other interesting tidbits such as where you're going on your honeymoon and where you'll be living after the wedding.
  • Any arrangements being made for children.
Best of all... keep your guests informed of your wedding plans and any changes that may occur during the planning process.

When Do You Send Out Your Newsletter?

Send out your wedding newsletter 3-6 months before the wedding. If your wedding is on a holiday weekend or at a "hot spot" for tourists, then it's a good idea to send it out as early as you can for those that will need to make hotel and travel accommodations.
